Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) sign the Gaza-Jericho agreement which makes steps towards Palestinian full autonomy. The agreement called for Israel to withdraw and transfer the powers to the Palestinian Authority (PA), the PA was put in charge of security for non-Israeli settlements.
